PostHeaderIcon In the Press ...

i7 Technologies were in the press again this week following the official opening of the new ICT Suite at Bishop Heber High School (called the "i7 Room") by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Neil Ritchie. We have worked with Bishop Heber High School over the summer to convert a disused toilet block into a state of the art ICT Suite for both students and the extended use of the community.

We were joined by our partners PSP Datacomms, Abbey Associates Design and Hitachi at the opening event.

We have a case study on this project prepared which will shortly be available for download.

PostHeaderIcon We need an XP System !

We have been asked by several Customers in the last week what will happen if they want to add a new system to their current network, but they want to use Windows XP fo the moment as they are not ready to upgrade.

We have done some investigations and it appears that although for the next few months, XP and VISTA machines will be available, the vast majority of the major manufacturers have already stopped providing machines with XP/VISTA or Twinload and are only installing Windows 7.

So there are a few choices

  • Buy and replace with XP now
  • Buy Windows 7 and a XP OEM with the new system ( you can't purchase OEM Operating Systems for an existing system)
  • Purchase a Retail Version of XP to install on the system.

You need to be careful that you don't buy "grey" imports of the XP Operating system as these are not legal within the UK.

Speak to us for more details of the options, we can help you with each of the above, call Steve Farmer on 01948 820787 for more information

PostHeaderIcon Windows 7 Release

Unless you have been on a desert island for the last two months, you cannot help to have noticed that Microsoft Windows 7 was released on Friday 22nd October 2009.

We have been using this new operating system for some time now, and can report that it is excellent. Yes, this is a brand new operating system, developed by Microsoft, the same people who produced VISTA, but this time they have got it very much "right"

It is now bwing shipped on the majority of new machines and we believe that we have seen the last of the "dual load" systems with the option of reverting to the previous version after the systems that are currently with distributors and shops are all sold.

If you are looking at upgrading to Windows 7, we strongly recommend that you speak to us and arrange for this to happen before the price increase after the initial release period has ended.

Speak to Steve Farmer at i7 Technologies for full details and to obtain pricing for whole school or Academy upgrades. 01948 820787
